Teachers Association of Long Beach - Milikan Area Secondary

TALB has an amazing bargaining unit comprised of talented and dedicated professionals.  We all need to work together to remind the district that WE are the glue that holds LBUSD together and that WE are the professionals that make LBUSD the "Best Urban School District".

About Me

What do you currently teach?

    • I currently teach Integrated Science

How long have you served on the Board of Directors?

    • I'm starting my 3rd year on the Board Of Directors

What is one change you would like to see in LBUSD?

    • I would like to see a Board Of Education and upper level administration that are more responsive to the needs of TALB's bargaining unit members

What is your favorite restaurant in Long Beach?

    • My favorite restaurants in Long Beach are the Potholder and Kamal Palace

What is the most important thing a TALB rep should do?

    • The most important thing a TALB Rep  should do is to become an advocate for the bargaining unit members at his or  her site and be an informed conduit for information from TALB to the bargaining unit members and also from the membership back to TALB.  The Reps are the eyes, ears and voices of TALB with our membership

What is the most important thing a site administrative staff should do?

    • The most important thing a site administrative staff member should do is respect the professional judgment of the "front line" faculty and staff who work with the students every day, these faculty and staff are the highly trained educators.  Administrators should also seek TRUE professional collaboration and not rule by "command and control" mandates that waste time and energy and have nothing to do with student learning
