Opportunity to Participate
ELA/ELD Curriculum Framework Launch Events
To support change in instructional practices and implementation of the CCSS for ELA/Literacy and the CA English Language Development (ELD) Standards, the CDE—in collaboration with school districts, county offices of education, California Subject Matter Projects, the Center for the Advancement of Reading, and WestEd—would like to invite you to participate in “Launching the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework,” a professional learning opportunity for teachers, administrators, coaches, and educational stakeholders to learn more about the ELA/ELD Framework and its use in educational settings.
Two more locations have been added to the “Launching the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework” lineup. In addition to the December 9–10 event in San Diego, launch events will be held January 20, 2015, in Redwood City and February 10, 2015, in Fresno. Please see the attached flyer for more details and please pass it along to your networks. You may also visit the CDE ELA/ELD Framework Launch Events Web page for the latest information about the San Diego event including the event sessions and registration and information for the other two events as it becomes available.
Smarter Balanced Digital Library Registration and Resources
The Smarter Balanced Digital Library preview period ended on September 30, 2014. Smarter Balanced has upgraded the Digital Library user registration process to the Open Source Administration and Registration Tools (ART) system. The Smarter Balanced Digital Library Coordinator Guide was e-mailed to local educational agency CAASPP coordinators on October 8, 2014, along with templates for uploading school and user account information. This quick guide is intended to provide brief instructions on how state, district, and school assessment coordinators can use the ART system to create institution accounts and assign users. If you have any questions, please e-mail the Digital Library at email@example.com.
You can find more information about Formative Assessment and the Digital Library on the CDE Formative Assessment and Digital Library Frequently Asked Questions Web page. You can also find a number of resources to assist educators in using the Digital Library on the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium Teachers Web page, under “Digital Library Resources.”
San Francisco Unified School District’s Math Department Web Page
SFUSDMath.org houses a diverse collection of news and resources for teachers, students, families, and the community as the district moves forward with implementation of the CCSS. The Web site is used as a central point for implementation of SFUSD’s new teacher-curated math core curriculum which holds rich math tasks at the center of the students’ experience. Important shifts in the district also include their new secondary course sequence, which was unanimously passed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in February 2014. Follow SFUSD’s fun math problems, graphs, updates, cartoons, and photos on Twitter! @SFUSDMath
