TALB Awards

Nominate a Colleague for a TALB Award!

Do you know a colleague that is outstanding in her/his job? Recipients of TALB Awards will be presented with a plaque at the annual TALB Unity Celebration on June 9, 2017.

TALB members may submit a nomination for a TALB Award by March 24th 2017. A button to the nomination form is below each award description.

Golden Apple Award

The Golden Apple Award recognizes K-12 TALB members that have earned the respect and admiration of their colleagues. TALB members may submit nominations for this award by completing this form and writing a Statement of Support.

Eligibility for Nominees:

  • Must be a TALB member.
  • Must be a K-12 teacher, nurse, librarian, facilitator, or specialist.
  • Must demonstrate dedication towards the children, staff and co-workers, and parents.
  • Must exhibit awareness, understanding, and respect for cultural and family diversity.
  • Receive at least (3) THREE nominations (at least two from fellow TALB members).

Golden Star Award

The Golden Star Award recognizes CDC/Head Start TALB members that have earned the respect and admiration of their colleagues. TALB members may submit nominations for this award by completing this form and writing a Statement of Support.

Eligibility for Nominees:

  • Must be a TALB member.
  • Must be a teacher in the Child Development Center or Head Start program.
  • Must demonstrate dedication towards their CDC/Head Start program, the children, staff and co-workers, and parents.
  • Must exhibit awareness, understanding, and respect for cultural and family diversity.
  • Receive at least (3) THREE nominations (at least two from fellow TALB members).

Membership Award

The TALB Membership Award recognizes a TALB member that has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Association and the community. TALB members may submit nominations for this award by completing this form and writing a Statement of Support.

Eligibility for Nominees:

  • Must be a TALB member.
  • Must be engaged in TALB membership activities.
  • Must demonstrate community involvement.
  • Must exhibit professionalism and demonstrate leadership in the Association.

Political Action Award

The TALB Political Action Award recognizes a TALB member that has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Association’s political activities. TALB members may submit nominations for this award by completing this form and writing a Statement of Support.

Eligibility for Nominees:

  • Must be a TALB member.
  • Must be active in TALB’s political activities (organizing committee, phone banking, precinct walking, campaigns, communicating with legislators, etc.).
  • Must exhibit professionalism in the Association.

Human Rights Award

The TALB Human Rights Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made notable contributions in the advancement of human and civil rights. TALB members may submit nominations for this award by completing this form and writing a Statement of Support.

Eligibility for Nominees:

  • Can be individuals, schools, or organizations working to advance the human and civil rights of others and have made a community-wide impact.
  • Must live or work within Long Beach Unified School District.

Friend of Education Award

The TALB Friend of Education Award recognizes individuals or organizations outside of LBUSD that demonstrate outstanding support of public education while exemplifying the high ideals of the Teachers Association of Long Beach. TALB members may submit nominations for this award by completing this form and writing a Statement of Support.

Eligibility for Nominees:

  • Can be individuals, organizations, businesses, foundations, government officials, schools or educational institutions outside of LBUSD.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership on behalf of educators and schools within Long Beach Unified School District.

Outstanding Administrator Award

The TALB Outstanding Administrator Award recognizes K-12 principals, CDC Program Coordinators, and/or Head Start Early Learning Center Managers that have earned the respect and admiration of their faculty, the Association, and the community. Up to five administrators may be selected for this award. Award(s) are presented at the TALB Unity Celebration annual banquet.

Eligibility for Nominees:

Nominations for this award may be submitted by TALB members for administrators that:

  • Have at least 50% member participation in the annual School Climate & Administrator survey for that administrator’s school site.
  • Receive an average score of at least 3.6 (out of 4.0) in the Administrator survey.
  • Receive at least (3) THREE nominations from TALB members from that administrator’s school site.
